The crowd can be seen anticipating the ball as it flies towards them at Saturday night’s North Queensland Cowboys v St George Illawarra Dragons game in Townsville.
The crowd can be heard cheering as the ball approaches but gasping in shock when the ball strikes the boy and knocks him from his seat.
Footage clearly captures the moment the ball strikes the boy in the face and sends him flying to the ground.
