George Michael overdosed on the party drug GHB – two years before his former lover claims he killed himself.
The singer, 53, was found unconscious in a bath tub at his home in Highgate, north London after taking the Class C drug in 2014.
He was rushed to hospital, where his agent said he was having ‘routine tests’, reports The Sun.
The revelation comes a day after his ex-partner Fadi Fawaz made the sensational claim the Wham! star killed himself on Christmas Eve 2016.
A coroner concluded he died as a result of natural causes at his country home in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire on Christmas Day.
But Fawaz, 45, is now insisting his ex-boyfriend took his own life, following another four attempts to kill himself.
In a series of emails seen by the newspaper, Fawaz writes: ‘It took five attempts… I’m sick and tired of people asking me what happened on Christmas Day.
‘Let me tell you, George died on his mother’s birthday, so that might answer a few questions.
‘Not to mention it took five attempts to manage to end his life. I think it’s important for the story.’

The hairdresser to the stars has been at war with the Michael family over his assets and previously claimed he slept in his car on Christmas Eve 2016, finding his body the next day.
His now says he died the day before, on the star’s birthday, following another fatal overdose.
A huge George Michael shrine has only recently been taken down from outside his Highgate mansion.
Fans laid flowers, framed photographs and candles outside his home, which is located in exclusive Highgate Village, home to Jamie Oliver and Kate Moss, for over a year.
