A 16-year-old boy was killed and an 18-year-old was critically wounded when a gun battle broke out near a Northern California high school on Friday, authorities said.
Two people were arrested following the shooting in Fairfield, shortly after 5.00pm Pacific.
Nearby Armijo High School was placed on lock down, due to the nearby location of the shooting, in the middle of its junior varsity football game against Bethel High School.
The students were evacuated and taken to the school gym, where one of the two arrested suspects attempted to hide among them, CBS reported.
Police said they are not seeking any other suspects.

The shootout began at Bell Avenue and Washington Street, less than 0.3 miles from where Armijo High School is located, at Empire Avenue and Washington Street.
When police arrived to the scene of the shooting, the teen and the 18-year-old were both suffering from gunshot wounds, and the teen later succumbed to his injuries, SF Gate reported.
The shooting took place during what officers described as a battle between two groups.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage captured from nearby and were quickly able to locate the suspect who ran to the gym, taking the suspect into custody.
The other suspect was arrested after being located at a nearby home.
Police said no one on campus was hurt.
