‘I did NOT know about the meeting’: Trump gloats after Michael Cohen’s lawyer debunks anonymously sourced CNN report that he knew in advance about infamous Trump Tower meeting
- Trump tweeted early Saturday morning about Cohen’s attorney Lanny Davis
- Davis said this week that an anonymously sourced CNN report in July was wrong
- CNN claimed that Michael Cohen said Trump knew about meeting with Russian
- Davis says story is false but he was unable to dispute it publicly at the time
- After Cohen pleaded guilty this week Davis was able to dispute the CNN report
- Trump also lashed out at Attorney General Jeff Sessions in a series of tweets
President Donald Trump has cited Michael Cohen’s lawyer in his own defense, pointing out that the attorney had debunked an anonymously sourced CNN report claiming that the President knew about an infamous 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer in Trump Tower.
‘Michaels Cohen’s attorney clarified the record, saying his client does not know if President Trump knew about the Trump Tower meeting (out of which came nothing!),’ Trump tweeted on Saturday morning.
‘The answer is that I did NOT know about the meeting. Just another phony story by the Fake News Media!’

Trump followed that tweet soon after with a jab at his attorney general, Jeff Sessions, who had drawn the President’s increasing ire as federal prosecutors under Sessions’ command have tightened their noose this week.
‘Jeff Sessions said he wouldn’t allow politics to influence him only because he doesn’t understand what is happening underneath his command position. Highly conflicted Bob Mueller and his gang of 17 Angry Dems are having a field day as real corruption goes untouched. No Collusion!’ Trump tweeted.
The President remains at the White House in Washington, DC this weekend and has no public events scheduled for Saturday or Sunday.
