A teenage boy has fallen to his death while walking in the Scottish Highlands.
Timothy Murray, 16, suffered fatal injuries while walking on Stac Pollaidh, north of Ullapool in Scotland.
The teen had travelled north from his home in West Yorkshire to visit the area.
It is believed he became separated from his family on the mountain who reported him missing in poor weather conditions.
Emergency services mounted a search operation after Tim was reported missing around 4.45pm on Sunday.
He was found a short time later by the HM Coastguard helicopter and his body was recovered by Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team.
His devastated family issued a statement through Police Scotland.
They said: ‘It is a very sad loss and Timothy was a lovely son.
‘We would ask that our privacy is respected at this difficult time.’
Sergeant Kay MacRae said: ‘Our thoughts are with Timothy’s family and friends at this tragic time.
‘We would like to thank our partners in Dundonnell Mountain Rescue for their assistance with this challenging incident.
‘A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal, as is standard procedure with sudden deaths.’
Facebook users left messages of condolence for Tim on the Police Scotland page.
Sam West said: ‘So sad. Rest in peace. My thoughts are with your family.’
Ian Craig Lockhart wrote: ‘Very sad to hear this, thoughts are with the family.’
Christine Fraser added: ‘Very sad thinking of all his loved ones at this sad time.’
Stac Pollaidh means ‘peak of the peat moss’ and is 2009ft in height.
It is nicknamed ‘Stack Polly’ and is a hugely popular peak with walkers visiting the northwest Highlands.
