Police have released an image of a bearded man they believe could help them with inquiries into the alleged assault of a 16-year-old girl.

Fairfield City Police Area Command released the image on its Facebook page on Thursday with hopes of tracking the man down.

‘About 8.30am on August 29, a 16-year-old girl exited a bus at the T-way bus stop near Elizabeth Drive, Bonnyrigg, when she was approached by a man,’ a police statement read.

‘The man began to follow the girl before he committed an act of indecency. He then grabbed her and tried to kiss her several times.

‘The girl managed to free herself and ran away.’

Fairfield Police were called to the scene shortly afterwards and investigations are continuing.

The alleged incident took place on Elizabeth Drive in the Sydney suburb of Bonnyrigg on August 29

The man was described as been described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, aged in his 60s, between 150-160cm tall, of a solid build, with a white beard.

He is depicted in the image wearing a black beanie, black sweater, black zippered jacket, and black running shoes.
