Stunning footage taken in 1950s Australia shows what life was like back in the good old days

Amazing footage of life in 1950s Australia has been shared online and shows a snapshot into the mid-20th century lifestyle of the Baby Boomer generation. 

Filmed in Manning in 1959 the video was shared to Live Leak with the caption ‘Stunning 1950’s footage of Australia’ and shows life in Taree, New South Wales.

Enjoying a period of prosperity after 15 years of peace following WWII the footage shows Australia in a simpler time.

‘One of the oldest country towns in New South Wales,’ the narrator explains. 

‘It’s the centre of some of the most fertile land in the state.’ 

A nursing school had also been established in Taree at the time and the footage shows eager students arriving at the newly built multi-floor hospital.

Farms were also supplied via the river and used the boats for distribution.
