An Oregon church has removed a billboard sign about forgiveness after some thought they were actually making a joke about oral sex.
The Westside Christian Church in Roseburg put up a sign on its billboard on Wednesday that read: ‘Forgiveness is to swallow when you want to spit.’
Senior Pastor Rick McMichael said it was an honest mistake and it was not meant to be sexual.

‘Well, you have saliva, and a lot of times when you get annoyed, you spit at people,’ McMichael told The News-Review.
‘You should just swallow it and get over it.’
A group of volunteers had come up with the message, according to the pastor.
He admitted that he could understand how people might have perceived the sign as referring to sex.

‘Uh, yeah. I would guess that’s exactly how people took it,’ Pastor McMichael said.
‘We have changed the sign since there seems to be concern among the community. That was not at all the intent, nor would I ever go that far.
‘And trust me, I spent 33 years in the military. I’m more than inclined to go that way if necessary.’
The church changed its sign to simply read: ‘God is love’.
