Mums everywhere are celebrating the launch of a new range of dolls now stocked on the shelves of Australian retail giant Kmart.
The male and female Anko Glamour Dolls (Anko is Kmart’s own brand) cost $4 and being praised because they offer more realistic body proportions.
The diverse collection features four female dolls, each with different hair and skin colour. The outfit choices are simple and fuss-free and even high heels have been switched for sensible flats.
A mother who shared a photo of the Anko Glamour dolls to a popular Facebook page was met with a flurry of comments by those also saying how pleased they were with the new toy.

‘Spotted these “Glamour Dolls” today. Same height as Barbie but twice the width, ie, a normal human size. How good!’ The mother captioned her original post.
The dolls, which also feature minimal makeup, were celebrated for their “normal” appearance and for being dressed in a way that was both stylish and practical.
‘Love it, they’re “normal” looking, actually dressed to cover the body, and not blasted with a sh*tload of makeup. We need more like this,’ wrote one commenter.

Another wrote: ‘They actually look like normal women (with thighs) – I want them.’
‘These dolls look exactly like my niece. I bought her one with brown hair and it was uncanny. Its great dolls are starting to reflect reality,’ an approving aunt added.
The woman who shared the original post explained in the comments the dolls were ‘$4 each or they had a whole set of different women and blokes for $15!’

Other commenters said while Kmart efforts were laudable, in the past few years Barbie had also released a range of dolls representing different body shapes and ethnicity.
In 2016, Mattel introduced a “new look” for Barbie.
It released female dolls that resembled various body sizes and shapes. Included in this new look were dolls of various skin tones and hairstyles all which was the first time Barbie had changed its image since the 1960’s.
