  • Footage of the daring leap was captured Thursday about 9.45am in Melbourne
  • The adorable baby falcon approached the edge several times before jumping
  • It was one of four eggs laid early September and the first to take flight

A baby falcon has taken its biggest leap of faith to date and flown from the safety of its parents’ high-rise nest for the first time in its life.

Footage of the daring jump was captured Thursday about 9.45am from the ledge of an office tower at 367 Collins Street in Melbourne’s CBD.

The adorable baby falcon timidly approached the edge several times before finally following the lead of his parents and taking flight.

The feathered flier is of the peregrine variety, according to a post made by its observer to Reddit.

‘We have liftoff, of the first peregrine falcon fledgling at 367 Collins St, Melbourne – about 9.45am this morning,’ the post with the video stated.

The account, listed as pigferret, also revealed the bird came from one of four eggs that were laid on the ledge early September.

One egg didn’t make it and three babies hatched on the second of October.

Sadly a second baby who became sick in its early life passed away Thursday, shortly before the first of its siblings took its first flight.

‘A few hours later we saw the first fledge – after lots of encouragement from mum and dad,’ the post read.

The video of the spectacular moment received hundreds of views and more than 150 well-wishing comments.
