Tributes for Adelaide Crows’ skipper Tex Walker and his partner have poured in following the couples’ devastating news they lost their unborn baby.

Fans rallied behind the couple to show their support, remarking on the string of tragedies to have hit the football club and showing solidarity under the hashtag: ‘We Fly As One’.

The 28-year-old announced he and partner Ellie Brown, 27, were expecting a baby due in March in a post shared to social media in September, captioned ‘When 4 becomes 5’ – referencing the couple’s two dogs.

But on Thursday night a statement confirmed the couples’ loss – the second tragedy to have hit the football club in months, following vice-captain Rory Sloane and his wife Belinda’s revelation their son Leo was delivered stillborn.  

Since then emotional fans have posted their support over social media. 

‘Adelaide FC have been through more than their fair share of tragedies in recent years,’ one supporter wrote. 

‘Thinking of Tex and Ellie during this difficult time and all those who have experienced such a loss.’  

Former Australian cricket coach Darren Lehmann was also among those to share messages of support with the grieving family, simply posting: ‘So sad xxxx.’

Another said: ‘I’m sure every club had dealt with personal heartbreaks but it sure feels that Adelaide FC has been dealt a particularly sad few years.’

‘Our club has been through so much … makes us bulletproof. We hold strong,’ another Crows supporter replied. 

Yet another commented: ‘Life is so unfair.. so sorry for your loss Tex and Ellie. Heartbreaking. First Rory and Bel now Tex and Ellie.’ 

Walker has been granted leave from pre-season training with a club statement reading: ‘Adelaide has granted Taylor Walker personal leave following the loss of he and his partner Ellie’s unborn baby.

‘The thoughts of the entire Crows family are with Taylor and Ellie, as well as their extended family, at this difficult time.

‘The Club asks that their privacy is respected and there will be no further comment at this stage.’

Walker was snapped at early pre-season training last week.

The 28-year-old was awarded captaincy in 2015 and has played 167 games for the Crows since his 2009 debut.

The upsetting news comes after after Adelaide vice-captain Rory Sloane and his wife Belinda revealed their son Leo was tragically delivered stillborn in August.

‘Last week we said goodbye to our beautiful little man. Leo Rory Sloane was born into the world still, but perfect,’ Sloane wrote on Instagram. 

‘Thanks for making us the proudest parents and filling our hearts with love beyond measure.

‘The moments we had with you are now beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.’

Sloane ended the heartbreaking post with the hashtag #lionwarrior.

There was a similar outpouring of support for the AFL player and his wife, with more than 17,000 people liking the post within an hour.
