‘We get along better and better’: Kylian Mbappe hails Neymar partnership ahead of crunch Champions League clash against Red Star Belgrade

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe believes his partnership with team-mate Neymar is getting ‘better and better’ all the time.
The duo form two-thirds of an exceptional attacking trio, that also includes Edinson Cavani, that has seen Thomas Tuchel’s side go 13 points clear at the top of Ligue 1 already.
Neymar has 15 goals in 18 appearances this season while Mbappe, recently crowned the world’s best male footballer under the age of 21, has scored 14 in 16.

Despite their impressive statistics, the Frenchman believes the pair are only going to improve in the future and hailed Neymar’s importance to the team on the eve of their Champions League game with Red Star Belgrade.
He said: ‘With Neymar, we get along better and better.
‘We also know each other more. I can talk about the importance of Neymar.
‘There are not many teams that have a quality player like him. Having him is a huge asset for us.
‘[Against Red Star] we will see all his quality. It is true he didn’t train a lot [because of the injury] but this is not a problem for a player like him.’
Europe’s elite club competition is of high priority to the French champions. They have not passed the quarter-final stage since they were bought by Qatar Sports Investments in 2011 and had hundreds of millions ploughed into the squad.

A victory would see PSG reach the knockout stages comfortably while a draw would also see them through because of their superior goal difference. Defeat though, and a Liverpool victory over Napoli, would see the French giants eliminated.
Mbappe called on his team-mates to up their game to see them over the line and into the knockout stages.
‘The game we played against Liverpool is not the best game we can play,’ he added.
‘We have shown we are a team that can play with a high level of intensity and with quality.
‘We are able to play with the intensity requested for this kind of game. It’s up to us to step it up and show that we can play better than what we’ve shown so far.’
