Venus Williams through to second round of Australian Open as unseeded American comes from a set down to beat Romania’s Mihaela Buzarnescu

  • Williams fought back though and took the second in a tie break of her own
  • The 38-year-old then joined sister Serena in round two, winning the third 6-2 

Venus Williams has made it through to the second round of the Australian Open after coming from a set down to beat Romania’s Mihaela Buzarnescu.

The unseeded American struggled in the early stages and lost the first set in a tie break on the Margaret Court Arena. 

Williams fought back though and took the second in a tie break of her own before wrapping up the contest 6-2 in the third and decisive set.
