Anna Wintour changes outfits between matches at the Australian Open

Second outfit’s a charm! Anna Wintour changes ensembles after watching her friend Serena Williams crash out of the Australian Open – before returning to see Novak Djokovic claim victory

  • Wintour, 69, attended the quarterfinals to watch Williams lose to the Czech Republic’s Karolina Pliskova on Wednesday morning in Melbourne
  • The Vogue editor-in-chief wore another signature patterned dress for the match
  • She watched as Serena, 37, lost to Karolina 4-6, 6-4, 5-7, which ended her Australian Open run
  • Six hours later, Wintour attended Serbia’s Djokovic take on Japan’s Kei Nishikori for the men’s quarterfinals, which he won 6-1, 4-1 before his opponent retired
  • The fashionista changed her outfit into a different floral dress and black shades

Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour has treated the Australian Open as her runway after subtly changing outfits between matches on Wednesday.

Wintour, 69, is an avid fan of tennis and often never misses a chance to cheer on her favorite players — including Serena Williams.

On January 23, Wintour supported Serena, 37, as she went up against Czech’s Karolina Pliskova in an attempt to earn her spot in the semifinals. But Serena was ultimately defeated after 72 minutes of play.

During the match, Wintour was outfitted in one of her signature patterned dresses with an orange-and-brown design across the cream-colored fabric.

She rolled up her sleeves to her elbows to embrace the warm Australian weather while watching the match.

Wintour’s outfit was then accessorized with her iconic black sunglasses and a statement necklace that rested just above her collar bone.

The mood for this match was more somber, though, as Wintour watched Serena lose to seventh seed Karolina in a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 defeat.

Serena was originally a strong favorite to make it to the finals, and proved just that after beating Simona Halep on January 21, who was announced as ‘the world’s No.1 player’.

But that was thwarted at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on Wednesday.

After the match, Wintour changed into a different floral gown before attending Serbia’s Novak Djokovic match against Japan’s Kei Nishikori for the men’s singles quarterfinal.

The second floral dress had a similar form to Wintour’s previous outfit with the sleeves hitting just below the elbows.

She paired the look with her signature shades and what appears to be the same statement necklace she wore earlier that day.

Seated next to Wintour during the second match was Australian writer and director Baz Lurhmann.

The Vogue boss has kept herself busy during the Australian Open as she also attended a match on Sunday where she watched another favorite player Roger Federer lose against Stefanos Tsitsipas.

As a tennis player herself — she regularly gets up early to play before work — Wintour also frequently pops up at other tournaments.

In her 2014, 73 Questions video for Vogue, she gave shout-outs to her two favorite players, saying her dream women’s doubles partner would be Serena, and her dream mixed doubles partner would be Federer.
