‘I’m excited!’: Paula Abdul talks return of American Idol… and addresses if she’d ever make an appearance on ABC’s revamped version
Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell were the original panel of judges when American Idol made it’s debut in 2002 on Fox.
After the show’s cancellation in 2016, it has been brought to the ABC network for a reboot.
When asked by E! News if she would make an appearance on the new version after leaving the show in 2009, she said, ‘I have no idea!’

The 54-year-old singer has just kicked off her Total Package tour with New Kids On The Block and Boys II Men, which she is calling her current priority.
‘My focus is on tomorrow night opening the tour with a bang. We are all looking to open it up with a bang and have a blast!’
Abdul has nothing but positive things to say about Idol’s new beginnings.

‘I’m so beyond proud to have been there since the inception of it. I think ABC is a great home for Idol. I’m excited for Idol.’
She added, ‘All the way around—ABC, Disney, and the record label it’s a great home for Idol. I’m forever a fan. I’m just finding out the same way as everyone else and it’s very exciting.’
‘Idol was and still is one of the most life changing experiences for me,’ she gushed.

Her former co-judge Simon Cowell has withdrawn his name from consideration of ever returning to Idol.
In an interview with Extra, he said ‘I was asked to do it, and the answer is no.’
‘Last time I watched, it was not the same show, just the same name. I left for a reason and I never regretted that,’ he added.
