‘You are on the cusp of a big, beautiful deal’: Kim’s friend Dennis Rodman writes to Trump and says the President is the ‘front runner’ for the Nobel Peace Prize

  • The basketball great tweeted out a letter he wrote to President Donald Trump
  • Rodman mentioned his own friendship with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un
  • In 2013, Rodman met Kim on 2013 trip and has developed a friendship with Kim
  • Eric Trump even retweeted the letter that Rodman shared Thursday afternoon
  • ‘You are on the cusp of a big, beautiful deal,’ former NBA player wrote in letter
  • Rodman says he was ‘not able’ to attend the summit, although he was in Singapore for the first Trump-Kim meeting

Basketball star Dennis Rodman released a letter to President Trump where he praised Trump for making strides with ‘my friend’ Kim Jong Un and said Trump should be the front runner for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Rodman cultivated a friendship with the mercurial leader during his own 2013 trip to North Korea – and their relationship has been just one of the odd features of the nuclear diplomacy that has taken root in the Trump administration.

Trump himself has said he and Kim ‘fell in love’ during their first meeting in Singapore – a summit that Rodman managed to be in town for.

‘You are on the cusp of a big, beautiful deal. One that would make you the front runner for a Nobel Peace Prize without question. You have my forever and forever support!’ wrote Rodman.

He added: ‘We have a lot of work to do, but with your diverse team, amazing global contacts and willingness to think outside the box, we can have peace on the Korean Peninsula. We really can.’

The letter, made out to Trump, was titled: ‘From the Desk of Dennis K. Rodman.’

The president’s son, Eric Trump, retweeted the letter, adding: ‘This is very nice!’

‘As your staff is aware, based on our discussions, you have my continued and strong commitment to assisting in your talks with North Korea,’ the former NBA rebounding powerhouse wrote.

‘My continued friendship with Chairman Kim remains strong – a friendship I encourage you to use for our Nation’s benefit,’ he added.

‘While I will not be able to attend the Hanoi events, I plan on following up with you, your team and my friend, Chairman Kim,’ Rodman concluded.
