Rio Ferdinand has praised Tottenham striker Harry Kane following his latest match-winning display, claiming that Borussia Dortmund would have gone through if he was on their side.
Tottenham went into the game away to Dortmund leading 3-0 on aggregate from the first leg, and Kane’s goal shortly after half-time ensured that Mauricio Pochettino’s side made it through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand was hugely impressed by the impact made by Kane, who is now Tottenham’s record scorer in Europe with 24 goals.

Speaking on BT Sport, Ferdinand said: ‘Huge result. (Hugo) Lloris was magnificent tonight. Countless top draw saves. If (Harry) Kane played for Dortmund, they would’ve gone through.’
Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, meanwhile, lambasted those who have suggested that Pochettino’s team are better without Kane.
Redknapp said: ‘What a game, Rio. Idiots have been saying Spurs are better off without him since he’s come back. He’s the best around.’

Tottenham still have Dele Alli to return from injury, while Ferdinand was eager to point out that Kane’s game is about more than just goals.
Ferdinand said: ‘They can look forward to having Dele (Alli) back. It’s his all round game that I love about Kane. Good one the ball, great passing, can calm things down and its more than about goals with Kane.’
Kane, who recently returned from an ankle injury, has scored 22 goals in 34 games for Tottenham this season.
In addition to going for glory in the Champions League, Tottenham are also determined to finish strongly in the Premier League.
Tottenham are ten points adrift of leaders Manchester City and are eager to at least secure a place in the top four.
Kane will be looking to get on the scoresheet again on Saturday when Tottenham face Southampton away in the Premier League.
