Proud fathers have been sharing hair styling success stories after Prince William revealed he had mastered the art of doing Princess Charlotte’s ponytail.
Dads around the world told how they take a similarly hands-on approach with their own daughters, getting stuck in with their hair and painting their nails.
However some of the boastful posts raised eyebrows from mothers, who claimed there is nothing extraordinary about a man being able to get a little girl ready for school.

Dads around the world took to Twitter to tell how they take a similarly hands-on approach with their own daughters, getting stuck in with their hair (as above) and painting their nails

It comes after the Duke of Cambridge, 37, told of the ‘nightmare’ of learning to do three-year-old Charlotte’s hair.
During a visit to Blackpool with the Duchess of Cambridge on Wednesday, the second-in-line to the throne told a local father: ‘Never try to do a ponytail. Nightmare.’
He added: ‘I can do a ponytail, but that’s about it as I don’t have enough hair to practise on.’
Other fathers admitted similar struggles, with one posting on Twitter: ‘Our daughter has the curliest hair and won’t let us brush it or style it or tie it up without a war.’
Fathers shared stories of their hair successes and struggles, while others praised men who took an interest in their daughter’s appearance, with one describing it as ‘pure’
However a handful have had greater success, with several sharing photos of complex styles they had created to mark World Book Day on Thursday.
Posting a photo of his daughter’s braided hair, one tweeted: ‘Had to give the plait a go today for daughter’s World Book Day. Not a bad attempt. As a dad I have no idea what I’m doing to girls’ hair.’
There are also several Instagram and Youtube accounts dedicated to fathers doing hair tutorials with their daughters.

Other users praised men who took an interest in their daughter’s appearance, with one describing it as ‘pure’.
But some women pointed out there is no reason why men shouldn’t share the responsibility of doing their daughter’s hair.
‘No husband of mine will not know know how to do my daughters hair,’ one posted. ‘What’s gonna happen when I’m out on a business trip??’
