A man has been arrested after apparently demanding a ‘bag of cans’ and the return of Brendan Rodgers to Celtic before he would end a stand-off with armed police.
Police were called to a block of flats in Paisley, near Glasgow, at around 11pm on Monday, where a 31-year-old man was allegedly brandishing a weapon.
As a police marksman aimed a gun at his flat, the man was then heard issuing his demands: ‘I want a f*****g bag of cans, I want Brendan Rodgers back, I want a job.’

The man was arrested and is due to appear in Paisley Sheriff Court later today.
Rodgers, 46, controversially quit Celtic at the end of February for a move to Premier League Leicester City.
The decision sparked anger of fans, who displayed a sign at the next home game that said: ‘You traded immortality for mediocrity. Never a Celt, always a fraud.’
Some supporters were also heard taken part in sick chants at a pub about wanting him to die from an ‘IRA bullet’.
To the tune of the hymn Give Me Joy in My Heart they sing: ‘I hope you die in your sleep Brendan Rodgers, I hope you die in your sleep I pray.
‘I hope you die in your sleep Brendan Rodgers, from a bullet from the IRA.’

Fans of the club have regularly been criticised for chanting about the terror group, which took the lives of hundreds of people during the Troubles, including women and children caught up in bomb attacks on civilian targets.
Police Scotland said: ‘Police called to a disturbance in Springbank Road, Paisley around 11pm on Monday in which a 31-year-old man was allegedly brandishing a weapon.
‘Officers, including specialist negotiators and public order, attended and the man was detained around 2.30am.
‘He was initially taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for assessment but has now been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to due appear at Paisley Sheriff Court later today.’
