Mohamed ‘Butch’ Haochar arrested over inflammatory posts against John Ibrahim and several others

A heavily-tattooed man who confronted John Ibrahim at his home has been arrested after allegedly making a series of inflammatory social media posts aimed at several people.

Mohamed ‘Butch’ Haochar, 37, was arrested at Ryde Police Station in Sydney’s west on Tuesday morning.

He was originally visiting the local police station to report for bail, as he faces charges for attempted stalking or intimidation against his brother Ali, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

But now Haochar has been charged over a number of social media posts allegedly inciting violence aimed at Mr Ibrahim, Danny Green, Bassam Hamzy, as well as members of the Hamzy family.

Who are Danny Green and Bassam Hamzy?

  • Bassam Hamzy is a convicted killer who was sentenced to jail in 1998 over the shooting murder of Kris Toumazis outside a Sydney nightclub. He was also convicted for conspiring to murder a witness. While he was in Lithgow jail, Hamzy founded the notorious gang Brothers 4 Life in 2008. He is currently locked up at Goulburn’s Supermax prison, about 195km south-west of Sydney.
  • Danny Green is an Australian professional boxer. He held the WBA light-heavyweight title between 2007 to 2008, the IBO Cruiseweight title in 2009 and 2013 and the WBC interim super-middleweight between 2003 and 2005.

Danny Green is an Australian professional boxer who has enjoyed a successful career in the ring with numerous titles tucked under his belt.

Mr Ibrahim is a nightclub mogul better known for his venues in the once-thriving Kings Cross district in Sydney.

Last Saturday, a video showed Mr Ibrahim calmly turn Haochar away from his Dover Heights mansion after he was approached over an alleged money issue.

Footage shows Haochar, who has ‘execution’, ‘187’ and a grenade inked across his forehead and King Kong tattooed on his knuckles, trying to provoke a dramatic confrontation.

‘John, Habib, it’s me, Butch,’ he shouts before walking over to ring the doorbell.

‘Let’s see if he answers…come on, John.

‘He’s not answering, f***.’  Come on, John, answer it’s me,’ he says becoming visibly frustrated.

But when Ibrahim finally comes to the door, Haochar stops recording.

Footage of what happened next, however, was later shared by Ibrahim who captured the moment on his home security camera.

Haochar is seen approaching the 48-year-old, greeting him with an extended hand which Ibrahim swats away.

During the confrontation, which is not audible, Ibrahim seems calm and collected while speaking to Haochar in tracksuit pants and sandals.

Seconds later, Haochar appears to be dismissed and is seen walking away quietly.

Butch Haochar reportedly also spells his last name Haouchar.

Although it is not clear what his tiff with the nightclub baron was about, the Ibrahim and Haouchar families are known to have a history of bad blood between them.

Osman Haouchar lost his right eye during a drive-by outside his family’s Merrylands home in 2008.

His brother Bilal was later filmed in jail threatening revenge on the Ibrahim family.

According to sources close to the Haouchar family, Butch and Osman are not blood related.

Mr Haochar will front Burwood Local Court on Wednesday where he will fight charges of four counts of publish indecent article.

Michael Ibrahim, who served six years behind bars for manslaughter, was shot in the shoulder in 2015, months after his release.

That year, Australian Federal Police later detained Osman at Sydney Airport to question him over the shooting, but he was released without charge hours later.

Michael was later arrested in 2017 for drug and money laundering charges to which he will be sentenced for later this year.

There is no suggestion that John Ibrahim was involved in the shooting of Osman or any of the activities of Michael Ibrahim as referred to.
