The two male’s, who have been separated from the main pride and placed in a different enclosure, were being fed when the attack happened.

The zoo said it was not normal for a keeper to be in an enclosure with the lions.

The park, which visitors drive through in their cars, contains more than 1,500 animals on 120 hectares of land.

Elephants, leopards, giraffes, and macaques call it home alongside a pride of lions.

Since its foundation in 1974, the park said online it has worked to conserve endangered species. One of its most important achievements, according to the zoo’s website, was the release of a White Rhinoceros, bred in Europe, back into the wild.
