Barcelona send Liverpool classy message after Mo Salah confirmed unavailable for second leg

‘Games like these are for world-class players’: Barcelona send classy message to Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp confirms Mohamed Salah will miss Champions League semi-final second leg with concussion

Barcelona have displayed their sportsmanship by sending Liverpool a classy message on the eve of their semi-final second leg after finding out Mohamed Salah has been ruled out with concussion.

The Egyptian forward suffered the head injury in Liverpool’s victory over Newcastle on Saturday evening.

Liverpool’s leading scorer was flattened by Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka in an accidental collision and must now sit out his team’s attempt to retrieve a three-goal first leg deficit against Barcelona.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed on Monday that Salah had suffered a concussion from the incident and will be unavailable for selection.

The Spanish giants took to Twitter to send their best wishes to Salah by writing: ‘Games like these are for world-class players. Get well soon!’

Salah’s omission will come as a bitter blow for Liverpool, who will also be without Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino due to injury.

Klopp recognises that it will be a huge ask to score four goals against Barcelona with his star men missing Tuesday’s match.

He said: ‘The situation is with the 3-0 in Barcelona it is obviously not the situation we want to have.

‘You cannot play against Barcelona and tell the world “watch this” and after 10 minutes we are level. We try to win the game. If there is an opportunity to go to the next round, we have to try in. Until then we just have to try and win the game, that’s how we will do it.

‘It is a long season and there is at least a little chance to make it even longer. If not, these are the last two home games of an incredible season, and I think we should celebrate that with a good performance on the pitch and a very good performance in the stands. That would be really nice.’
