KEOWN: Liverpool have the chance to create history against Barcelona

Liverpool have the chance to create history against Barcelona… Jurgen Klopp will not let it go without a fight

  • Liverpool have made a habit of digging deep throughout this season
  • They refuse to be written off and now they have another big challenge
  • Tuesday’s return leg has the feel of a freebie after 3-0 defeat in Barcelona

This Liverpool squad have made a habit of digging deep this season. They’ve done it throughout 2018-19, including scoring 14 goals in the 85th minute or later.

They refuse to be written off, and their latest late strike came at Newcastle with Divock Origi heading home the winner to keep them in the Premier League title race.

Now they’ve got another big challenge ahead of them — turning around this 3-0 deficit against Barcelona.

Liverpool were without a number of key names in training ahead of their clash with Barcelona

It was devastating for them to concede three at the Nou Camp when, really, they did not deserve to lose by that scoreline. Still, it has made this return leg feel almost like a freebie.

It is a chance for these Liverpool players to give it everything they’ve got, and there will be an electric atmosphere at Anfield awaiting them.

Jurgen Klopp will certainly not be prepared to let this tie go without a fight, even if he is unfortunate to be without both Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

The Liverpool boss knows full well it will take a fairytale result to reach the Champions League final but football throws those up occasionally.

Liverpool should be thinking: ‘Let’s see how good this Barcelona side are at defending then.’

You have to dream and if the home side can get a couple of early goals, who knows what can happen?

Klopp spoke about throwing caution to the wind. He will want his players to take their chance to go down in history, no matter how outside a chance it is.
