Revealed: The UK’s favourite flight-booking websites – and it’s easyJet that’s No1 and Skyscanner in second place

  • EasyJet is ranked the top site for affordability, reliability and ease of use
  • It was ranked against nine other sites including Ryanair and TravelSupermarket
  • For a trip to Alicante from Gatwick Skyscanner offers cheaper fares than easyJet 

The UK’s favourite flight-booking websites have been revealed – and it’s easyJet that takes the top spot.

According to a survey the Luton-based budget airline’s website is regarded as the most reliable, most trustworthy and the easiest to use. 

The study asked over 2,000 UK adults their opinions on 10 flight-booking websites.

These also included Ryanair, TravelSupermarket, Kayak, GoCompare, Cheapflights, Google Flights, Momondo and Hipmunk.

Respondents in the study, by WeSwap, were asked which was their favourite site in terms of affordability, ease of use, reliability, brand trust and frequency of use.

EasyJet came out on top of every category with Skyscanner finishing second in every category.

When it came to cost efficiency, both Ryanair (third) and TravelSupermarket (fourth), also fared well.

For reliability, TravelSupermarket came third and Kayak fourth.

In the ‘ease of use’ and ‘most used’ categories, Ryanair and TravelSupermarket both did well, coming third and fourth respectively in each list.

In the ‘most trustworthy’ ranking, meanwhile, TravelSupermarket and GoCompare followed easyJet and Skyscanner, coming third and fourth.

Flight-booking platform Hipmunk came bottom of every category. 

The study also looked at which of the top-performing four websites – easyJet, Ryanair, TravelSupermarket and Skyscanner – offered the cheapest deal for a bank holiday getaway next weekend.

It revealed that while easyJet is perceived as the cheapest flight-booking site, in reality it’s actually Skyscanner.

For this ranking researchers compared the prices on the four sites for both a couple and a family of four travelling from London Gatwick to Alicante next Friday (May 24) and returning on bank holiday Monday (May 27).

For both fares, Skyscanner offered the cheapest prices, of £392 for two adults and £904 for a family of four.

In the ‘price for two adults’ ranking Ryanair was second cheapest with a fare of £446.72, then TravelSupermarket with £549 and finally easyJet with £657.

For the family of four price, TravelSupermarket was second cheapest with a fare of £947, Ryanair third with £1,029.88 and easyJet was the most expensive again, with a price of £1,641.52.
