It’s been an emotional day across the world of football, with Liverpool lifting the Champions League trophy along with the sad passing of former Arsenal and Real Madrid star Jose Antonio Reyes.
Liverpool left back Alberto Moreno was quick to dedicate his Champions League win to Reyes, who died in a horrific car crash earlier on Saturday.
‘Rest in peace brother,’ wrote Moreno on Instagram, along with a picture of him lifting the Champions League trophy. ‘This cup is yours.’

The pair were together at Sevilla before Moreno joined Liverpool and Reyes to Espanyol
Moreno posted on Instagram and on his story, dedicating the win to his sadly deceased friend
Moreno was team-mates with Reyes at Sevilla from 2012-14 before the full-back went on to join Liverpool. Reyes joined Espanyol a couple of years later.
‘This goes for you brother, this cup is yours,’ wrote Moreno. ‘I love you so much! Always in my heart.’
Moreno was also wearing a shirt paying tribute to Reyes during Liverpool’s title celebrations on the pitch after the game.

Tributes have been pouring in for Reyes, who was killed in a fireball crash along with his cousin as he returned home in Spain.
He was part of the ‘Invincibles’ Arsenal squad, and played for a number of other teams during his career.
Former coach Arsene Wenger said ‘he will remain forever in our hearts,’ while his team-mate at Arsenal Cesc Fabregas called him his ‘first great friend in the world of professional football.’
Liverpool won the Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur thanks to an early penalty from Mohamed Salah and a late goal from Divock Origi.
