‘I’m not sure if this is a good thing… someone else spotted another one of these beached only a couple of weeks ago. What’s going on in the deep sea that they are surfacing?’ a woman said.

Others were in disbelief.

‘Yeah something different that is,’ one man said.

The peculiar looking creature gets its name due to the similarities its eyes have with normal household cats.

Cat sharks, despite their intimidating appearance, are one of few shark species that are harmless to humans.

They usually live on the sea floor, eating small crustaceans and fish.

They can be found all over the world in tropical climates, living at depths of up to 2000 metres.

Cat sharks often measure around 80cm in length but some are known to reach nearly double this.
