More than one million Australians have had their tax returns processed after a tiresome week for the Australian Tax Office.
The ATO confirmed the number by Saturday morning, after hundreds of thousands of eager Australians sent the systems into frenzy to secure their $1080 bonus.
Parliament passed the Coalition’s $158billion tax cuts package at the beginning of the month, in a bid to provide give 10million Australians a much-needed financial boost.

The changes will see those earning $48,000 to $90,000 receive up to $1080 in their tax returns.
Amid the excitement of extra cash in the bank, the myGov website was down for four-and-a-half hours on Friday morning.
Earlier on Friday, the ATO tweeted: ‘Some of our services (incl. the portals & our online services via myGov) are currently unavailable or experiencing slowness’.
Employers with more than 20 people are no longer required to provide group certificates, which means Australians doing their tax returns need to obtain their income record from the Department of Human Services website.
Despite the technological issues, ATO were able to pay a total of 500,000 refunds worth $1.2billion into people’s bank accounts on Friday.

The ATO confirmed their services were back to normal on Saturday and thanked taxpayers for their patience.
‘Yesterday’s issue didn’t impact processing of lodged returns,’ they wrote on Twitter.
‘Refunds continued to be paid into people’s bank accounts yesterday and will continue as normal next week.’
An additional 54,000 Australians lodged their tax returns on Friday.
