A husband-and-wife have proven the neigh-sayers wrong after their converted horsebox cafe beat off a host of more conventional restaurants to be crowned the top eatery in a seaside town.
Seafood delicacies such as lobster, cockles and white bait are all dished out from Cŵlbox, the brainchild of Jody Bell and Rhiannon Morgan-Bell, who sold their house to follow their dream of opening a beach-side restaurant.
Their hard work has now paid off, having taken first place on TripAdvisor’s listing of the best places to eat in Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire.

Husband Jody, 42, said: ‘We took a big risk when we sold our house and moved from Cardiff to follow our dream of serving fresh seafood on the beach.
‘We’re delighted. We feel so lucky to have had so much support from both locals and holidaymakers, it makes the long hours we’ve put in worth it.’
The horsebox, named Cŵlbox, is also run by the couple’s friend and business partner Damien Bertrand.

Crispy fried halloumi served within a burger bun, with skin on fries, salad leaves and mayo
It opened in July 2018 and has now beaten off nearby restaurants, including The Mulberry Restaurant and The Stone Crab.
One five-star TripAdvisor reviewer said: ‘Wow, now this is what Saundersfoot beach has been waiting for. We had squid and ‘dirty’ chips with salad.
‘Superb. They have out a few seats and a bench/table, great for sand free eating. The dirty fries are AMAZING.’
Another said: ‘Delicious dirty fries, fantastic tasting coffee and good looking staff. What more could you ask for?’
Items on the menu include crispy squid, priced at £9, ‘bang bang prawns’ for £10 and ‘lobster love’, a half shredded Tenby lobster served with fries, salad and mayo for £17.

The popular eatery opened just over a year ago and has topped the poll of best restaurants
