‘It’s difficult to choose just one,’ Alisson said to Spanish pubication Marca when asked about his best save.

‘But I think the most important one for me was against Napoli at Anfield, against [Arkadiusz] Milik, in the last few minutes of the last Champions League group stage game.’

The game at Anfield was ticking into its final moments, when a ball was crossed over the top of the defence to the Polish striker in an on-side position.

Milik had only Alisson to beat in a one-on-one position, but was put off by the razor sharp reactions of the onrushing Brazilian who spread himself wide to block the point-blank range volley.

Liverpool went on to win the game moments later as the whistle sounded, with Mohamed Salah’s strike enough to secure a 1-0 victory.

If the last-gasp circumstances were not enough, Liverpool would have failed to progress in the competition had Alisson not made the save.

Jurgen Klopp’s side then made their way all the way to the Madrid final, with a historic 4-0 win over Barcelona along the way, to be crowded champions of European football’s premier competition.
