Two men in their twenties are fighting for their lives after being shot in east London.

Armed police were scrambled to reports of ‘shots fired’ in Courtland Avenue, Ilford, at 12.06am on Saturday.

Officers and ambulance crews found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

In a video seen by MailOnline purporting to show the shooting’s aftermath, one victim is slumped on the back seat of an Audi sports car while the other is sprawled on the pavement.

A paramedic is heard saying: ‘We’ve got a shotgun to the face or something… a shotgun to the side.’

No arrests have been made and a crime scene remains in place while Scotland Yard detectives launch an ‘urgent investigation’.

The victims were taken to a central London hospital where they remain in a critical condition.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: ‘We were called at 12.10am in the very early hours of this morning to reports of a shooting in Courtland Avenue, Ilford.

‘We sent two ambulance crews, two medics in fast response cars and an Incident Response Officer.

‘We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance’s advanced trauma team which consists of a paramedic and doctor in a car.

‘We treated two men for wounds at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre as a priority.’

It is the latest spate of violence to rock Londoners, 113 of whom have been murdered in 2019.
