A father who sent foodies into a meltdown over his controversial rankings of chocolate bars and ice creams has shared his new definitive list of soft drinks.
Bruno Bouchet, from Sydney, has sparked debate on social media once again after he ranked 16 drinks from ‘God Tier’ to the ‘Cat Vomit Tier’.
The managing director and the former Kyle & Jackie O radio show producer said he compiled his list of what he believes to be the ultimate ranking of fizzy drinks – so do you agree with him?
Father Bruno Bouchet, from Sydney, ranked 16 drinks from ‘God Tier’ to the ‘Cat Vomit Tier’
Bouchet crowned Passiona, Dr Pepper and Bundaberg Ginger Beer as his ‘God Tier’.
‘Passiona took an average-tasting fruit and turned the passionfruit into an extraordinary soft drink. It’s refreshing, it’s fun, the taste lingers and it has a great name. What more do you want from a soft drink?’ Bruno told Daily Mail Australia.
‘Dr Pepper is the greatest soft drink on earth. It has an incredible three-phase taste that starts with cherry, then cinnamon and finally the star of the show: vanilla.’
Bouchet placed La Ice Cola, L&P (Lemon & Paeroa), Vanilla Coca-Cola and Sunkist in the ‘Royalty Tier’.
‘LA Ice is the most underrated drink in Australia. Unlike Coca-Cola, the fizz isn’t overpowering, and it has a lovely secondary caramel aftertaste that lingers in the mouth for nearly half a minute. LA Ice is the undisputed king of colas,’ he said.
‘Say what you want about our New Zealanders, but L&P proves that our neighbours have great taste. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more refreshing drink. L&P is a top-shelf soft drink that only world leaders and geniuses drink.’
In the centre of his rankings, Bouchet listed Fanta, Kirks Creaming Soda and Solo in the ‘Adam Sandler Tier’, or what he describes as the ‘take it or leave it’ category.
‘If I was in a desert and dying from thirst, I’d probably consider having a Fanta, but it tastes too much like a six-year-old’s birthday party rather than delicious soft drink,’ Bruno said.
The managing director and the former Kyle & Jackie O radio show producer said he compiled his list of what he believes to be the ultimate ranking of fizzy drinks
‘Solo is too acidic, there’s nothing enjoyable about it. The only people that drink it are those stuck in the 80s that still think the Solo Man is cool.’
In the second last tier, titled ‘Pleb’, Bouchet controversially named Coco-Cola, Mountain Dew and Pepsi Max.
‘Coca-Cola and Pepsi don’t actually taste that great. They’re overly carbonated and have no subtle flavours outside of that big initial sugar punch. The marketing and advertising makes people think they like Coke and Pepsi, but they’re just being sheep who can’t think for themselves.’
Lastly, the ‘Would Rather Eat a Bucket of Cat Vomit Tier’ controversially included Diet Coke, Lift Hard Hitting Lemon and Sprite.
‘Sprite is a nothing drink. Apart from helping get your fluids up when you’re vomiting, this soft drink should be immediately discontinued,’ Bruno said.
‘Diet Coke ranked so low because it tastes like the cheap Bali knock-off version of real coke. If you’re going to commit to drinking a soft drink, commit to the sugar that goes along with it, don’t pretend that you can have the best of both worlds.’
