Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will not be drawn on Erling Haaland transfer talk with 19-year-old RB Salzburg striker in blistering form: ‘I don’t think it’s right’
- Erling Haaland has been on incredible form with 17 goals in 14 games this season
- Striker’s performances have seen him heavily linked with Manchester United
- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows compatriot well from their time together at Molde
- But he refuses to be drawn on possible transfer out of respect for RB Salzburg
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has refused to be drawn on speculation linking Manchester United with a move for prolific Red Bull Salzburg striker Erling Haaland.
Haaland added to his growing reputation with both goals in Salzburg’s 3-2 Champions League defeat to Napoli on Wednesday. The teenager has scored 17 goals in 14 games for Salzburg this season including a Champions League hat-trick against Genk.
Solskjaer knows his Norwegian compatriot Haaland, 19, very well from their time together at Molde before the former United favourite returned to Old Trafford as manager last December.

But even though United are in the market for a striker after letting Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez leave last summer, Solskjaer is reluctant to be drawn on talk of a move for Haaland.
‘I don’t think it’s the time now for me to talk about other teams’ strikers,’ said Solskjaer. ‘I spoke about Harry Kane yesterday and Erling today, I don’t think it’s right for me.’
Solskjaer had been drawn into commenting on Kane on the eve of United’s Europa League win over Partizan Belgrade in Serbia after his former teammate Roy Keane had urged him to sign the England captain from Tottenham.

Solskjaer responded by saying: ‘Roy’s quite straight-forward isn’t he? For us it’s working hard. Getting Anthony (Martial) back is going to be a massive boost for us and I’m sure when Anthony comes back that will help Marcus (Rashford) as well.
‘There aren’t many (Robert) Lewandowskis and Harry Kanes. They’re like (Alan) Shearer, (Ruud) Van Nistelrooy, fantastic goalscorers.
‘Ours are different types of players, but I have to say I like someone who can finish half a chance and he does that. He’s one of the best, but he’s a Tottenham player.’
