The Block’s Suzi Taylor is ‘working at prison laundry’ as she awaits court

The Block star Suzi Taylor is working behind bars at a laundromat while she awaits her next court date after allegedly ‘honey trapping’ a man she met on Tinder.

The 49-year-old reality star, who was locked up at Brisbane Women’s jail earlier this month, is reportedly earning up to $30 a week washing inmates’ clothes, the Courier Mail reported.

She is being held among Australia’s worst female criminals at the Wacol facility after a magistrate denied her bail saying the risk of her re-offending was ‘unacceptable.’

Taylor’s new job reportedly requires her to wash clothes for 20 inmates.

Last month, Taylor and a male friend, were accused of holding her 33-year-old Tinder date against his will and forcing him to transfer her money.

She is currently facing a series of charges including assault and possessing dangerous drugs.

The prison, located in the city’s south-west and where Taylor will stay as she awaits trial, was last year revealed to be in a state of severe overcrowding.

Another report in 2016 also revealed complaints of pregnant prisoners being forced to sleep on the floor of a doubled-up cell.

The report also revealed some prisoners were sharing cells designed for one with three other inmates.

Donna McAvoy – who was sentenced to life in prison for her part in a Gold Coast armed robbery leading to the death of a police officer – is one of the inmates to have called Brisbane Women’s Correctional Centre home.

Convicted murderer Lindy Williams has been another high-profile detainee a the jail, sentenced to life behind bars for the murder and dismemberment of her partner.

A government report issued earlier this year revealed more than a third of prisoners in the jail are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.

Both appeared before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday where Taylor was ordered to remain in custody.

Turning her back to the public gallery, Taylor, dressed in prison clothing, said nothing after confirming her identity.

Her lawyer told the court Taylor had been a licensed estate agent for the past six years, but had not worked as one in six months.

Taylor posed nude for Penthouse magazine in the early 1990s and once dated INXS star Michael Hutchence, who died in 1997.

Describing their romance in 2015, she said Hutchence would ‘call me every time he was in Queensland’ after spotting her in the centre-fold shoot.

‘He got in contact with the magazine and we ended up having a meeting,’ the former model said.

‘I visited his studios in Sydney where he used to record, and we swapped numbers and then he started calling me every time he was in Queensland.

‘It was great – someone to go out for dinner with, someone to have a laugh with… We really enjoyed each other’s company.’

Hutchence, a notorious womaniser, was married to TV presenter Paula Yates at the time of his death.

More recently Taylor starred in the reality show The Block.

She and a friend came last on the show but still walked away with $349,000 (£186,000) in winnings.
