This is the heartwarming moment a bus full of strangers embrace the festive spirit by breaking into a rendition of Silent Night together. 

The footage, which was captured by Hayley Olsen on an Arriva bus in Liverpool, shows the group of commuters break into the well-known Christmas song along their bus journey at 10pm on December 14.   

As the festive tune, complete with a harmonica, gets underway, more passengers begin to join in and some can be seen clapping and swaying to the music.

Taking to Twitter to share the clip with others on December 15, Hayley wrote: ‘I was on the bus at 10pm last night when this happened. None of these people knew each other – absolute spirit of Christmas in Liverpool!’ 

During the clip, a male commuter, dressed in a suit jacket, begins to play the festive tune on a harmonica and one man shouts: ‘You can all join in you know.’

Another woman, sporting a Santa hat, then appears to start off the harmonious singing, and can be seen clapping and swaying to the music.

Moments later, the whole bus joins in with the Yuletide song and some begin to stomp their feet and laugh along.

After sharing the festive video on Twitter, Hayley has seen her clip gather more than 20,000 views from social media users.

One user wrote: ‘No surprise that’s Liverpool people. Scousers best comedians and now singers!’  

While another commented: ‘God bless our Liverpool. A good old sing-song of Silent Night rendition of complete strangers on the bus…but everyone knows ”there’s no such things as a stranger in Liverpool”.

Meanwhile another Twitter user added: ‘This is a great example of the warmth of the city and it’s people.’

Responding to the video, @arrivanorthwest tweeted: ‘We love a good sing-song. That is lovely to see!’
