A leading fertility doctor has been found not guilty of punching a 16-year-old girl during a row with his partner’s ex-husband.
Professor Luciano Nardo was accused of assaulting the teenager outside his then girlfriend Victoria Cook’s home in Wilmslow, Cheshire in January.
The 43-year-old was also charged with assaulting Ms Cook’s ex-husband Stuart Davies, who he was alleged to have kicked 10-15 times, and assaulting Mr Davies’ father Dennis Davies.
But following a two-day trial at Tameside magistrate’s court, the renowned gynaecologist was found not guilty of all three charges.
The court heard Stuart Davies and Ms Cook divorced in October 2018 in what was described as an acrimonious split.
Ms Cook then began dating Prof Nardo, a consultant gynaecologist, in late 2018.
Stuart Davies had earlier told the trial that Prof Nardo repeatedly shouted ‘f*** off’ at him and threatened to have him ‘taken out’ during a row on Ms Cook’s driveway on January 20 this year.
Mr Davies said: ‘Because of his Italian accent, I joked “What by the Mafia?” and he said “No, I have the money, I know people”.’
Mr Davies said Prof Nardo punched him from behind to the shoulder, punched him to the face and pushed him into a neighbour’s garden.
Prof Nardo then punched a teenage girl, Mr Davies said, before doing a ‘flying kick’ into his back, which sent him sprawling into the road where a car ‘just missed my head’.
‘He kicked me maybe 10 to 15 times. I just curled up into a ball,’ added Mr Davies.
But Prof Nardo, of Alderley Edge, denied the attack took place and said Mr Davies had in fact punched him twice to the face, breaking his nose.
Stuart Davies (left) alleged he was kicked by Prof Nardo – and his father Dennis Davies (right) said he had the doctor in a headlock following the attack. Prof Nardo’s girlfriend at the time, Victoria Cook, had divorced Stuart Davies in October 2018
Prof Nardo, who told the court he was a visiting professor at Manchester Metroplitan University, said he and Ms Cook had spent the day of the alleged attack at Hale Country Club and had returned home in the evening when Stuart Davies and Dennis Davies arrived at about 7pm.
He said: ‘Stuart Davies started being abusive to Victoria, saying things along the lines of “You open you legs to anyone”, “You are a f***ing bitch”.
‘I was shouting back at him, saying do not talk like this. You do this all the time. I was cross. I had told him before not to use that language.
‘Stuart Davies and Dennis Davies were accosting Victoria. I was trying to protect Victoria by putting myself between them.

Mr Davies said: ‘Because of his Italian accent, I joked “What by the Mafia?” and he said “No, I have the money, I know people”
‘I got punched on my right eye by Stuart Davies. I was taken by surprise. I tried to push him away and grabbed his shoulder.
‘All the time he was saying “Hit me, hit me. You are a big man, I will get you done for assault”.
‘I pushed him over the hedge. There was a tussle, but that was caused by me trying to stop Stuart Davies and Dennis Davies.’
Prof Nardo, who has since split from Ms Cook, said he then went back inside the house to check his injuries, before returning to the driveway.
He added: ‘As I came back out the house – I cannot even remember how it happened – I had like a ninja jumping on me and dragging me from one pavement to the other.
‘I was put in a headlock by Dennis Davies. I remember Stuart Davies coming over and punching me in the face and me tasting blood in my mouth. I had a black eye and a broken nose.’
Under cross examination, Holly Holden, prosecuting, said Prof Nardo ‘struck’ the 16-year-old girl to ‘get past her’.
Prof Nardo replied ‘no’.
Ms Holden said ‘The reason Stuart Davies punched you was because you attacked [the 16-year-old girl]’ – to which Prof Nardo replied: ‘No, that’s wrong.’
Ms Holden then said: ‘You got Stuart Davies in the road, you were punching and kicking him to the body.’
Prof Nardo replied: ‘I never kicked him, I never punched him.’
Prof Nardo, 43, was also charged with assaulting Ms Cook’s ex-husband Stuart Davies, who he was alleged to have kicked 10-15 times, and assaulting Mr Davies’ father Dennis Davies.
