Police investigate ‘murder suicide’ after woman, 46, ‘killed her partner, 58, before taking her own life’

  • The double-death tragedy happened in Llanelli, West Wales

A woman killed her partner before taking her own life in an apparent murder-suicide.

Police say a 58-year-old man was found murdered at a terraced home where a 46-year-old woman was also discovered dead.

They say her death is not being treated as suspicious.

The double-death tragedy shocked neighbours after police were called to a quiet residential street in Llanelli, West Wales, on Sunday night.

Neighbour Carol Mutter, 63, said: ‘It is very sad especially at this time of year.

‘The police called around to see if I had heard anything but there was noting I could tell them.

‘I didn’t know the couple and I’m not sure how long they had been living here.’  

One bystander, who asked not to be named, said: ‘I was driving through Lakefield Place on Monday at around 4pm and I could see a forensic tent outside a home in the street. I could also see police door-knocking.’

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said officers were called to the property shortly after 8.30pm on Sunday, when they found the bodies inside.

She said said: ‘Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating the sudden deaths of two people in Llanelli.

‘The man’s death is being treated as a murder and the woman’s as a non-suspicious death.

‘Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased at this tragic time.’
