A British woman has been sexually assaulted after falling asleep in a taxi in Dubai.
The 31-year-old said she was attacked by the 25-year-old Pakistani driver as he drove her home following a night out in November last year.
The woman told a court in Dubai that she climbed into the taxi at 11.35pm and asked the man to take her home to the Silicon Oasis area of the city.

She then fell asleep, and woke up to find that the driver had parked in a secluded area near her home full of under-construction buildings.
‘He touched my body and kissed me. I was shocked and pushed him away asking him to stop,’ she said.
The woman said she screamed, at which point the driver returned to his seat and drove her the rest of the way home.
After the incident, the driver allegedly claimed he could have reported the woman for drinking alcohol ‘but instead wanted to please me’.
When the driver dropped the woman at her address, she took the licence plate number and contact police, who subsequently arrested the man.
The woman said that, instead of taking her home to Silicon Oasis (file image), the man pulled up in a construction area nearby, disconnected his car’s security camera, and attacked her
According to local media, the taxi driver has admitted taking the woman home and telling her that he was aware she had been drinking alcohol.
A police officer from the Rashidiya station told the court: ‘He claimed that she flirted with him and touched his face while he was driving before she fell asleep.
‘He was excited and parked the vehicle in an empty area and disconnected the cable of the vehicle’s camera before trying to kiss her.’
Reports said that the defendant has admitted a charge of sexual abuse and a verdict is expected on 13th January.
The taxi driver will remain in police custody until that date. Neither the defendant nor the victim have been named.
