On TikTok, the video has been viewed more than a million times. It also prompted a follow up post from the student running the account.
The student explained that the teacher – who they did not name – was the living teacher at the school. She described living as being a class where culinary arts and laundry skills are taught.
She said that the teacher had had his basketball reffing shoes stolen out of his office, which prompted the students to act.
Not all of the students seen in the video pitched money for the shoes, according to the student, but the crowd had gathered to still show their support for the teacher.
The student shared that the video was posted to show kindness, adding that there needed to be more people like them in the world.
