Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho keen to sign Roma winger Cengiz Under ‘but will only attempt to buy him if they reach the Champions League’
- Tottenham Hotspur are keen to bolster their attacking options this summer
- Harry Kane’s injury this term has shown the lack of depth in Spurs’s front line
- Cengiz Under is an important player for Roma despite injury hit season
Jose Mourinho has already started to weigh up moves for forwards to bring into Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, with Roma star Cengiz Under on his radar.
Under has endured an injury hit campaign at the Stadio Olimpico but has still impressed Mourinho enough to make him a key Spurs target.
However in the report from Turkish paper Gunes, any move for the 22-year-old would only come if Spurs can retain their place in the Champions League.
Cengiz Under will become a Tottenham target if they qualify for the Champions League
Spurs face a battle to remain at Europe’s top table next term with the north London outfit currently four points off rivals Chelsea who currently hold the final Champions League spot in the Premier League.
Under has struck 16 goals and grabbed 11 assists in his 82 appearances for Roma since joining them in the summer of 2017 for £12million and has 19 caps for Turkey.
Although his early season was hampered by an arm injury, he has been a regular in a Roma team that is also battling to qualify for the Champions League next term.
Paulo Fonseca’s team are sat fifth in Serie A but are level on points with Atalanta above them in the race to reach the top four.

Regardless of the result of Tottenham’s push to reach the top four, Mourinho will be keen to bring fresh legs to his side’s attack for next season.
The injury suffered on New Year’s Day by main striker Harry Kane will keep him out for a large remainder of the season and it has left the north London side looking light up top despite the January signing of Steven Bergwijn.
Son Heung-min has taken on the mantle of leading Spurs’s front line and was on target from the penalty spot on Wednesday night as Tottenham moved into the FA Cup fifth round following a 3-2 win over Southampton at White Hart Lane.
