A retired cop from New York who wore a MAGA-inspired hat on a family trip to Nashville to celebrate his 50th birthday says he was in attacked by a woman in a bar who grabbed his baseball cap and punched him in the face.
Daniel Sprague, from Staten Island in New York, says he was left with a cut ‘to the bone’ after alleged attack at The Stage on Broadway in Tennessee.
The former NYPD officer, who has shared images of Trump-inspired memorabilia and posts appearing to be pro-Republican on social media, said that the ‘misguided soul’ yelled: ‘How dare you?’ as she launched the attack.

The ex-NYPD officer from Staten Island says his wife bought him a MAGA-inspired baseball cap and a shirt emblazoned with the words ‘MAKING AMERICA GREAT SINCE 1970’ as a gift for his 50th birthday
The former detective said that he and the woman were led to the exit by security. He said the woman left the scene but that he filed a police report the following day and authorities were investigating.
Sprague shared pictures on Facebook on Monday of the alleged attack showing his bloodied face, as well as images of the clothing he says his wife bought for him as a birthday gift.
He said the shirt featuring the US flag, reading ‘MAKING AMERICA GREAT SINCE 1970,’ and the red baseball cap emblazoned with the words: ‘MAKE FIFTY GREAT AGAIN.’
‘She gave me a nice little gouge,’ he told WSMV. ‘I would assume that she had a ring or maybe even had a set of keys or something because it is pretty deep and goes to the bone.’
‘She has issues, I feel bad for her’ he said.

Sprague was celebrating in the Tennessee bar during a birthday trip with friends and family
‘This is wrong,’ he told the station, adding that people shouldn’t ‘go around’ assaulting each other because someone has a political view ‘that doesn’t match theirs’.
On his Facebook post, Sprague warns that ‘a fool or misguided snow flake’ may comment.

He said: ‘Other then the unfortunate incident it was an excellent B-Day weekend. The wife surprised me with a beautiful weekend in God’s country, Nashville TN, with a bunch of family and friends to help celebrate this milestone birthday.
‘While there she picked some nice birthday hats and shirts for me to wear like a shirt saying ‘Making America Great Since 1970’ a black shirt with an American flag on it as well as a red hat with ‘Make FIFTY Great Again’.
‘So while in the the bar ‘The Stage’ (great bar with great security and very professional) a misguided soul possibly not alone, who I’m assuming was not very literate, spun me around, punch me in the face and grabbing my hat while she was yelling ‘how dare you’ leading me to think she thought it was a MAGA hat.
