Emergency services are at the scene of a crash involving two planes north of Melbourne, where several people are feared dead.

The two aircraft each carrying two people on board crashed in a paddock near Seymour just before 11.30am on Wednesday. 

‘The exact circumstances surround the incident are yet to be confirmed and more information will be provided as soon as it becomes available,’ a Victoria Police statement read.

An air ambulance has been dispatched.

A police spokesman and Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia no other further details are available.

The scene is not far from an airport at Mangalore, where a flight training school is also based.  

Photos from the scene show a light plane with its nose and tail separated from the body of the mangled aircraft.
