Police believe they may have found the body of missing Mennonite woman Sasha Marie Krause, 27, in Arizona after she disappeared nearly a month ago from New Mexico

Police believe they have found the body of a missing Mennonite woman in Arizona after she disappeared a month ago from her rural community in New Mexico.

Sasha Marie Krause, 27, vanished on January 18 from her Farmington home.

On February 21, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona reported finding a body of a woman that matched her description.

The body has not been positively identified yet and an autopsy is slated for Monday to establish identity and determine cause of death.

‘They described what she was wearing and, based off that general description, our detectives went to the Flagstaff area to take a look,’ San Juan County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Jayme Harcrow said to the Farmington Daily Times.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office believes her disappearance was suspicious but it’s not clear what could have taken her from New Mexico to Arizona.

Over the weekend Krause’s family members posted on social media saying her body has been found.

‘My precious, beautiful niece has been found. Our hearts are breaking and I hardly know what to say but we so appreciate everyone’s prayers for our family during this time,’ one woman who said she was Krause’s aunt posted on Saturday.

Krause was last seen leaving her home around 8pm and did not return.

Cops found her car parked at a nearby church in the area of her residence, but she left behind items she would usually take with her.

On January 19, deputies were dispatched around 3am to Lamp & Lighters Publishers on County Road 5577 in the Crouch Mesa area on reports connected to her disappearance. Crouch worked at that publishing store.

Since her disappearance Mennonite community members have been sharing her image on social media, saying she possibly interrupted a burglary in process and was abducted.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office announced a $50,000 reward on February 12 to locate her.

‘We’re definitely investigating all avenues as possible. As for the burglary in progress, we have no information to indicate it’s actually true,’ Harcrow said.

The San Juan County Sheriff's Office shared this notice on Saturday, saying Arizona officials flagged the body believed to be Krause to them. The body identification is pending an autopsy
