Unassuming candy shop becomes centre of viral ‘Jelly Fruit challenge’ on TikTok as THOUSANDS of teens flock to the store to try it

Employees of an unassuming candy shop were surprised when their store became the focus of a viral TikTok challenge.

Candyland, located in the Harbourtown shopping centre, in Gold Coast,  imports Zing Jelly Fruits, a liquid lolly encased in a plastic wrapper.

The challenge involves biting down on the plastic without the lolly exploding. 

Candyland shop assistant Erica said thousands of teenagers were flocking to the the store to try the challenge.

‘We’re keeping on top of it,’ she said.

‘We sell out really fast, and get them stocked back in really fast.’

She said the challenge caught their attention almost three months ago when they noticed demand drastically increasing.

Candyland marketing manager Jade Wood said they were thrilled by the publicity despite the challenge causing a lot of mess. 

‘Kids have been flocking to get their hands on the Jelly Fruits that we import,’ she told Gold Coast Bulletin.

‘Last week we sold nearly 1000 of the jellies, which is insane.

‘People have been going nuts online and even completing and recording the challenges in store, which has been great fun for all of us, albeit a little messy.’

The store encourages everyone to come in and give the challenge a go and has since created its own TikTok account. 

The #jellyfruitchallenge boasts more than 2.9million views on the popular app.
