A mother-of-two has shared a simple recipe for healthy ‘Tim Tams’ – and at just 99 calories per serve, you can enjoy them during lockdown without any guilt.

Founder of Australian health and fitness program The Healthy Mummy, Rhian Allan, shared the recipe on her blog and revealed it requires just five ingredients to make including dark chocolate, tahini, coconut cream, maple syrup and Biscoff biscuits.

‘Make them to suit your own tastes, with milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or white chocolate – but remember these are a treat so be sure to have people to share them with. They’re that good,’ she wrote.

To make your own, first you’ll need to melt the dark chocolate in a bowl, then add in the tahini and mix well.

Then add chilled coconut cream solids, maple syrup and coconut cream liquid, and stir well to smooth the mixture.

Half the Biscoff biscuit, add one teaspoon of the chocolate mixture then top with the other half of the pair and chill for an hour.

Then melt the remainder of the dark chocolate, dip the biscuits in to coat them and place them in the fridge until the chocolate is set.

How to make HEALTHY ‘Tim Tams’

Ingredients:

60 grams dark chocolate (70% cocoa)

1/2 tbsp tahini

1/2 tbsp chilled coconut cream solids plus one teaspoon of the liquid

1 tsp maple syrup

8 Biscoff biscuit pairs

Method:

1. Chill coconut cream by putting in the freezer for 20 minutes, or in the fridge for 8 hours

2. Melt 20g dark chocolate in a microwave safe bowl, add the tahini and mix well.

3. Once slightly cooled to room temperature, add the chilled coconut cream solids. Then add the maple syrup and coconut cream liquid, and stir well to smooth the mixture back out.

NOTE: The mixture should become quite thick like chocolate icing.

4.Half each Biscoff biscuit, add 1 teaspoon of the chocolate mixture, and top with the other half of the pair.

5. Chill for approximately 1 hour, or until the chocolate centre is completely firm.

6. Melt remainder of dark chocolate, and dip the biscuits in to coat entirely. Return to the fridge until chocolate is set.

Ms Allen also recently showed fans how to whip up a batch of ‘Snickers’ mousse with healthy alternatives to traditional ingredients, using ricotta cheese instead of double cream and natural maple syrup in place of white caster sugar.

The mousse can be made in less time than it takes to boil an egg and stays fresh in the fridge for up to four days, which means you don’t have to enjoy it all at once.

But at just 226 calories per serve – roughly the same as a glass of milk – you can tuck into this treat night after night without a shred of guilt.
