Dejan Lovren insists Liverpool’s unrelenting hunger for success remains as strong as ever despite their European and domestic achievements in the last two seasons.
The Reds responded to Champions League final defeat in 2018 by going one step further just 12 months later, before missing out on the Premier League by one point last season and responding by amassing a 25-point lead at the top this time around.
Such success could lead some to rest on their laurels, but the Croatian is adamant that the appetite in the Melwood camp remains as ruthless as ever.

‘Once you try a good meal, you want to try it again – you don’t stop. This is what is pushing us. We want to show to everyone what we are capable of,’ Lovren told the club’s official website.
‘The core of the team is here, starting from the manager – he did a great job here from the beginning. He showed everyone that he has the abilities and the skills and he knows how to manage the team in bad moments and in good moments.
‘We didn’t stop work, that’s the main point – we stayed hungry. This is what he brought to us. We are always hungry and will stay hungry.’
Liverpool’s never-say-die attitude has been a key characteristic to their recent success
The Reds’ dominant period has been characterised by a never-say-die attitude in which they have recovered from difficult positions in games to secure important results, and the defender believes the mix of experience and youth in the side is the perfect tonic for Jurgen Klopp.
‘We are used to playing big finals and the big games and we know how to manage it. Even when we are 1-0 down we know what to do. This is why it’s important to have a balance in the team.
‘If we keep the important players and the core of the team here for many years, we will only grow.’
During his six-year stint on Merseyside Lovren has been an integral part of Liverpool’s accomplishments under Klopp, scoring the winning goal in a dramatic 4-3 win over Borussia Dortmund just over four years ago as they reached the Europa League Final, as well as a FIFA Club World Cup triumph in December on his honours list.
