Smartwatches and fitness trackers are all the rage right now, but a device that tracks your steps, activity, heart rate and blood pressure in real time will often set you back hundreds of dollars. 

But now, discount supermarket chain Aldi is set to launch a budget smartwatch for just $39.99 as part of the weekly Special Buys launching next week. 

From Wednesday 6 May, fitness fanatics will be able to get their hands on Aldi’s tracker for under $40.

The watch includes many of the features you would expect with regular trackers, including multi-sports tracking, heart rate and blood pressure and a Bluetooth wireless connection.

If you’re into swimming, you’ll be happy to hear that the watch is water-resistant and designed to endure through your favourite activities. 

Users can also connect to their smartphones through Bluetooth, and skip, play, pause and rewind music, directly from your wrist.

The smartwatch is available in an assortment of colours, including pink, blue and black and green.

The screen has a touch screen in colour, and the watch also has the capacity to monitor your sleep.

Those who have managed to get their hands on the smartwatch in the past when it has been part of Aldi’s Special Buys have been hugely impressed with how well it works.

‘Bought it mainly as a watch, therefore I am not to disappointed about all the “fun” features, which really can only be guidelines, but never taken to seriously, especially Blood Pressure and Pulse,’ one reviewer posted on Product Review.

Another person highlighted that it’s a ‘good basic watch for the price’.

‘Wasn’t expecting much for the price. Thought it would be more a kids toy,’ one reviewer wrote.

‘My needs are fairly simple, notifications, time and music controls. It does all this.’

Similar smartwatches from the likes of Fitbit and Garmin often cost upwards of $200.
