An Ohio man has been charged after allegedly leaving his girlfriend’s three-year-old son in a car while he went to a casino in Cleveland.
John Pierre McCallister, 28, from Akron, Ohio, was arrested Saturday night at Jack Cleveland Casino for child endangerment.
Police officers received a tip that a boy was alone in a car parked on the third story of the casino garage.
When police arrived at 9.30pm, they found the boy unharmed sitting in the backseat of a 2013 Hyundai.
McCallister approached the car and said: ‘Oh, my bad, I was coming back to check on him.’
He smelled strongly of alcohol, police said.
McCallister initially said he was a passenger in the car andt he toddler belonged to his girlfriend, who was still inside the casino. He tried to walk away but was stopped by police.
Once in the backseat of the cruiser, he admitted his girlfriend was at home in Akron.
Police called the mother who said she had no idea McCallister was even in Cleveland.
