Shocking moment man refuses to have car repossessed

A passerby captured the shocking moment a man refused to have his car repossessed and jumped onto a moving tow truck in order to save his vehicle.

Brittany McDonald and James Harris were driving when they witnessed the owner doing everything in his power to stop his ride from being repossessed on Monday.

The bizarre scene unfolded when the man saw his car being hauled off and he jumped aboard the tow truck and tried to unhook his car in Compton, California.

The man was so desperate to free his vehicle that he put up the fight for 10 minutes, even smashing a window with a crowbar as the exchange was filmed by McDonald.

The three-minute clip has since gone viral with more than two million views on Facebook and nearly 30,000 shares.

It begins with the scene already in full-swing, with the man standing on the back of the tow truck, seemingly trying to unhook his red car from the truck.

The car sweeps across the road and sparks fly from the bottom of the red vehicle.

At one point the car is completely sideways as the tow truck driver repeatedly pumps the breaks, attempting to shake off the man.

Eventually after going several blocks, a Los Angeles police car stops behind the tow truck, causing the man to jump off and attempt to walk away.

He was later questioned and released but the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is said to be considering charges against the man.

Officials said the repo man was trying to repossess the car that had been parked on the street because the owner hadn’t been making payments, reported NBC Los Angeles.

McDonald said to the news outlet: ‘I just looked in the rear view mirror and saw black smoke and a guy rolling on the street. … I didn’t know what was going on.

‘A blessing nobody did get hit.. cars had to swerve and the car was spinning and people ran into trash cans parked on the side of the road.

‘It was crazy. We were following, the tires actually came off … we ran over tires as we recorded the video … it was a sight to see.’

Harris said at one point the man fell off of the truck, adding to the station: ‘He flipped off and chased him two or three blocks and somebody must have given him a ride and caught up to him.’

The man came back with a crowbar and smashed in a rear window of the truck, police said.
