A cowardly crook has been caught on video sucker punching a 78-year-old woman in an unprovoked attack on a Brooklyn sidewalk.

The NYPD said on Friday that the assailant is still at large following the June 10 attack at about 5.15pm on Broadway in the Bushwick neighborhood.

Surveillance video shows the attacker strolling casually down the sidewalk towards the unsuspecting woman.

As the man passes the woman, he swings his fist and decks her squarely in the head.

Though the video does not have audio, the man is seen raising his palms up as if questioning why she had wronged him. 

The woman reported having substantial pain, but refused further medical attention.

Following the attack, the man ran off to an unknown location.

The attacker is described as a male, dark complexion, approximately five-foot-nine, medium build with short dark hair. 

He was last seen wearing a black long sleeve shirt, green pants and black shoes.

It is only the latest random attack on an elderly woman in New York City, after a woman was shoved to the sidewalk and hit her head on a fire hydrant earlier this month in Manhattan.

In that case, cops have since arrested Rashid Brimmage, 31, who has 103 prior arrests. He has been charged with assault.
