DIY mum transforms and brightens her living room in isolation by adding just FIVE key new elements – with spectacular results
- An Australian woman has brightened up her living room in a major renovation
- She created an airy and glamorous space with the addition of some white paint
- An electric fireplace with fake flames, a new couch and larger TV added depth
- And she had a customised TV cabinet made to fit the space alongside the wall
An Australian mother has completely transformed her living room by adding five new elements to space, including an electric fireplace TV stand, a new couch and larger TV.
The woman, from Victoria, said she enjoyed a ‘little bit of redecorating’ during her time in coronavirus isolation and was impressed by how much she achieved in a matter of weeks.
‘I can’t believe how bright and airy this space is now,’ she wrote on a home decorating Facebook group alongside before and after photos of her lounge room.

Hundreds of queries from fellow home decorators flooded the post, asking how she managed to pull off such a dramatic change.
‘I don’t have very good taste usually so it’s nice to see that it’s not just me that thinks it looks good,’ she said.
To start with she removed the old navy couch, which was a Focus On Furniture design, and replaced it with a light grey Spencer model from Nick Scali Furniture.
Although it was one of the more expensive purchases the addition of a lighter lounge immediately lifted the lighting in the room and made space appear larger.

Although it was one of the more expensive purchases the addition of a light-coloured lounge chair immediately lifted the vibrancy of the room
Then she installed the $699.99 white electric fireplace heater and mantel suite from Moda Living next to the lounge to bring a cosy winter feel to space without the upkeep a regular fireplace would require.
‘The TV unit is custom-made because I couldn’t find anything that fit the space under our LG 86-inch TV,’ she added.
The most significant change she made was altering the wall colour to a Lexicon Quarter white shade, tying in the new brighter elements of the living room.
‘What you’ve done looks a bazillion times better, who would have thought it could be so simple,’ one person wrote.
‘Absolutely stunning. This is my dream room!’ Said another.
